Successful Apple Appeal.

Many homes at Claremont had apple pie for Sundays dinner and the funds of the Claremont and Huonville scout troops will greatly benefit from the apple collection conducted jointly last Saturday. The fruit was generously donated by Mr. G. P. Jenkins, Mr. P. Collins and Messrs J. F. Longey and sons, who also made their facilities available for preparing it by a scout detachment directed by scout master Driessen, assisted by members of the group committee, and by midday 238 cases of apples were loaded on a lorry for sale to homes at Claremont. Mr. L. Wilcox, group scout master, paid tribute to donors of the fruit, Mr. Brian Richardson, Group Secretary, who organised the drive from this end, Messrs H. Jones and Co. for donating the boxes and Messrs B. A. Nicholls and Son who carted them from Hobart without cost.

BOB-A-JOB  WEEK

As from 4th May scouts and cubs are calling on people in the Huon district seeking jobs. The leaders, in expressing appreciation of post public support, would be pleased if residents would assist and encourage the 81 boys working for their Beaver badges.
This serves a two-fold purpose for the lads. ' To raise essential funds for scouting and to help in the training of the boys. Pictured doing a job for former Queen's Scout, Alan Watchorn is Bruce Skinner of Huonville.
